Sculpting Light Through Fused and Cast Glass
Aqua ferrum
Ceramic/ casted glass sculpture. The glass body captures light like water itself—shifting between pale aquamarine and hints of sunlit gold—so that it seems almost alive. Tiny bubbles are frozen within its torso.
Glass casting is an ancient technique that dates back to early civilizations such as the Egyptians. It involves melting glass into a mould, where it slowly takes form as it cools. I create my own moulds and often incorporate metal powders and other materials, allowing unexpected textures and interactions to emerge. The process requires both patience and precision. Each piece follows a carefully controlled firing schedule and can take up to a week before the kiln can be opened. Only then does the final result reveal itself, ready for refinement and finishing.

Mixed media allows me to bring different materials and techniques into dialogue with one another. By combining glass with elements such as metal, clay, paint or found objects, I can explore contrasts in texture, transparency and form. This approach offers greater freedom to experiment and to move beyond the boundaries of a single medium. Each piece becomes a meeting point where structure and spontaneity, fragility and strength come together to create something layered and unexpected.
